7am Math
Maddie asked for help with math this morning. I know, it’s 7am…. She’s in 6th grade advanced, right? It can’t be that complex. Well, it’s 7am.
So this math question had 4 parts. Decimal division. What the what??? 6th grade. Decimal division. Not like 1.2 or something…. this was .2785409 divided by .06875023 or something ridiculous like that……
I cannot believe that math is already this complex in 6th grade. I know adults who can barely spell (more and more every day), and most cashiers at whatever store or restaurant you go to couldn’t count change if their life depended on it.
I guess it sounds like I’m complaining, but I’m not. Well, I kinda am. Our society has nose dived and we are not getting collectively better, we are getting worse. Also, it’s 7am and I’m looking at decimals thinking;
What in the Sylvester Stallone is happening right now???
I guess the end point is that I’m glad my girls are getting their asses handed to them in their classes. If that’s what they consider normal there in school, they will have no problem getting through “real life” thinking situations. Considering a lot of our society would rival only a bag of hammers on an intelligence scale, I think they’re already ahead of most of us…..
Wait, I just used their, there and they’re in a paragraph…..I’m going to hell.
