Helpless

Anyone who works in live concert entertainment knows there are risks in what we do. There are serious things to consider on an almost daily basis. We try to do everything possible every day to make the concert enjoyable and safe for the performers, the crew and the fans. We know that injuries can happen, but can feel almost insulated from catastrophe.

People that attend these concerts are usually unaware of these risks, and are there to have the time of their lives. It’s an escape, a time to have fun and sing your heart out.

The horrific event in Indianapolis is hard to stomach. I wasn’t at this event, but I do the same type of concerts every year. This situation seems to be an act of god. It’s very hard to predict what weather can do, no matter how hard you may try.

I can only imagine the helplessness that was experienced by the people working for or with Sugarland last night. No matter what was done to ensure safety could have stopped this from happening.

I also can only imagine the horror and heartache experienced by everyone affected by this event. We as humans tend to think it could never happen to you. Last night, it did happen.

This was a catastrophe, and our collective thoughts are with you brothers and sisters.

I’m so sorry.
